What is PSYCHOTHERAPY?
Psychological wounding is common to the human experience. Yet pain and suffering need not be debilitating nor unending. Symptoms can often reveal to us the very lessons needed for recovery, healing, and personal growth. The task of psychotherapy is learning how to dialogue with the unconscious aspects of our psyches and to decipher what those lessons are trying to tell us.
My clinical orientation is grounded in both Psychoanalytic and Attachment Theory. In addition, I’m trained in Jungian Analytic Psychotherapy, which places an emphasis on the personal and collective unconscious, symbols, free association, dreams, creativity, and narrative play. This is an in-depth psychotherapeutic approach that allows for a personal exploration of the core issues standing in the way of living a life of meaning and purpose. Effective psychotherapy requires a relationship built on trust and integrity. Once safety and stability is established, the patient and therapist can embark on a process of inquiry and insight, exploring memories, dreams, past relationships, and key life events. The old stories we once told ourselves begin to shift as new ones take their place.
